Get on the manager's backup list before the summer rush.

Sound familiar?

What HVAC contractors tell us is broken, and what we do instead.

Before

Paying for the same no-cooling call five shops bought.

You're the fourth truck to call back.

With an exclusive opening

We send managers in each market to one HVAC contractor only. While the opening is yours, no other HVAC contractor gets those requests in your market. Without an opening, a request never goes to more than three.

Before

Slammed in July, chasing work in February.

The phones go quiet when the heat breaks.

With the desk

Managers set up service agreements and backup vendors in the cooler months. The desk puts you in front of them then, so the summer calls come to a contractor they already know.

Before

Stuck behind the incumbent.

The manager already has an HVAC company.

With the desk

She does, until he can't get there in July. Being the backup vendor on her list now is how you become first call.

Before

Ad spend and agencies that bill for no-shows.

Money out every month, meetings that never happened.

With the desk

Free to join. You pay when a meeting is held: it happened, with the person who picks the vendor, on a definition you have in writing. Manager no-shows are never billed.

Before

Units down and tenants waiting.

The manager has days, not weeks.

With the desk

Under Arizona's landlord-tenant law, once a tenant gives written notice, a cooling failure that affects health or safety generally has to be fixed within five days. Managers need a vendor who can move inside that window. The desk sends those calls to you.

Before

Lumped in with every truck on a search page.

Managers want proof before they let you on the roof.

With your packet

Your ROC license with your HVAC classification, insurance, W-9 and references, verified and dated.

Re: Backup HVAC vendor for hidden properties

Hi hidden,

We want a backup HVAC vendor on file before the heat. Can you send your COI, W-9 and ROC license details?

Thanks for the packet. Can you look at the rooftop units at hidden before May? Let's set a time.

Who it's for

If you're the HVAC contractor that…

Illustrative image
  • services and replaces commercial and multifamily systems: rooftop units, splits, chillers or evaporative coolers
  • can get a tech to a no-cooling call within a day in summer
  • wants service agreements and steady work from property managers, not just one-off calls
  • has an owner, GM or service manager who can meet a manager within 48 hours
  • holds an Arizona ROC license with an HVAC classification and keeps the COI current
  • is based anywhere in Arizona and can serve properties in the market you want

…we built this for you. Check if it's open →

Probably not a fit

  • –Shops with no room for more work before summer
  • –Residential-only installers who don't do service
  • –Anyone who wants jobs promised before paying
  • –National brands run from headquarters (local owners who decide locally are fine)
How the desk works

Managers text one number. We send the HVAC call to you.

Managers of apartments, HOAs, offices and retail use the desk free. Contractors pay to be on the roster. We're not a contractor and we don't do the work. Your company can be based anywhere in Arizona, as long as you can serve properties in your market.

  1. Check your market

Enter your ZIP and answer a few quick questions (about 60 seconds). If it fits, confirm on a 15-minute call with a person at the desk.

  2. We build your packet

Your ROC license with its HVAC classification (C-39, R-39 or CR-39), insurance, W-9 and references. Verified, dated, tracked for expiry.

  3. A manager texts the desk

A unit down at an apartment block, a rooftop unit at a retail center, a pre-season maintenance bid. The desk sends it to the one HVAC contractor for that market and confirms you're moving.

  4. You meet the manager

You pay when the meeting is held. The relationship is yours: no share of jobs, no lock-in.

Heat season, planned

Be the backup before the heat, not a name she finds during it.

The Heat desk runs May to September. Phoenix and Tucson city codes require cooling in rentals to keep units at 82°F or below (86°F with an evaporative cooler), so a no-cooling call can’t wait.

Winter: be the backup

Managers line up service agreements and a backup vendor before the heat. That is when your packet needs to be in front of them.

Spring: pre-season

Pre-season maintenance and replacements go out to bid. The list decides who gets asked.

May–Sep: the Heat desk

When the primary can't get there, the desk sends the call to the one HVAC contractor in that market and confirms you're moving.

The five-day rule

Under Arizona's landlord-tenant law, once a tenant gives written notice, a cooling failure that affects health or safety generally has to be fixed within five days. Managers need a vendor who can move.

The packet

Your license and insurance are in her file before the heat.

We build your packet, verify it and date it. When a unit goes down in July, the manager already knows you're licensed for the work.

ROC classification

The Arizona ROC licenses this work under C-39 (commercial), R-39 (residential) and CR-39 (dual). We show yours on the packet.

82°F

Phoenix and Tucson city codes require cooling in rentals to keep units at 82°F or below, or 86°F with an evaporative cooler. Other cities' rules vary.

Not legal advice

We describe these rules so you know why managers call fast. Check the codes that apply to your own work.

Straight answers

Questions HVAC contractors ask

What does it cost?

Joining is free. Terms depend on your trade and market and they're built around results, so a person at the desk walks you through them on the call. We don't publish a price sheet.

Is Tucson priced the same as Phoenix?

Priced for Tucson. Ask on the call.

Is this another list of names?

No. We don't sell lists or run email campaigns. We hand you a manager who agreed to meet, or a stated need in HVAC.

Why be the backup vendor?

Most managers already have an HVAC company. In July that company is booked solid, and a no-cooling call can’t wait. The backup already on her list gets the call, and the backup that shows up becomes first call.

What's the five-day rule?

Under Arizona's landlord-tenant law, once a tenant gives written notice, a landlord generally has five days to fix a problem that materially affects health or safety, such as a cooling failure in summer, and ten days for other repairs. Managers need a vendor who can move inside that window. This isn't legal advice.

Does the 82°F rule apply everywhere?

No. It's in the Phoenix and Tucson city codes: cooling in rentals must keep units at 82°F or below, or 86°F with an evaporative cooler. Other cities' rules vary. This isn't legal advice.

Which ROC license do I need?

An Arizona ROC license with an HVAC classification: C-39 for commercial work, R-39 for residential, or CR-39 for both. Tell us yours in the form.

What stops you sending my competitor?

An exclusive opening. While it's yours, we don't send managers in your market to any other HVAC contractor. Without it, a request goes to the fastest responders, never more than three.

What if the manager has no job right now?

Then it's an intro: a manager who picks vendors and agreed to a conversation. The job comes later, from the list. When there's a job behind it, we tell you.

How many jobs will I get?

We won't give you a number we can't back. The desk is opening now. On the call we'll walk you through how routing works for HVAC in your market.

Can I take the relationship and leave?

Yes. The managers you meet are yours. No share of jobs, no non-circumvention clause.

Which markets are there?

Two: Phoenix (Maricopa and Pinal counties) and Tucson (Pima County), one HVAC contractor per market. The current status of each is in the form. Larger team? You can hold both. Terms are set on the call.

Do you work with homeowners?

No. We work with property managers of apartments, HOAs, offices and retail, not individual homeowners.

We're outside Arizona. Can we apply?

Yes. Enter your business ZIP. If your area isn't open yet, you can join the early list for it with the same quick questions, and we'll call to confirm before we open there.

Is OnRoster an HVAC company?

No. OnRoster is a vendor desk. We are not a contractor and do not perform work.
